Maree believes that emotional healing can only occur through a strong therapeutic alliance that is based on validation, empathy and compassion towards her clients. Maree is passionate about helping her clients and sees therapy as more than a means of helping clients to cope, but to enabling them to grow, flourish and transform. 

 

Maree has worked with children, adolescents and adults in diverse settings including private practice, rehabilitation and paediatric clinics. She is trained in evidence-based treatments such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TI-CBT) and Motivational Interviewing. She also utilises techniques from other scientifically validated approaches including Attachment Science, Schema Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy.

 

Maree has a special interest in family relationships, couples, attachment injuries, trauma, grief and loss, emotion coaching and working with the LGBTI+ community.

 

Maree has a personal interest in supporting mothers through their matrescence journey. Matrescence is the word used to describe the physical, psychological, and emotional changes women go through during the transformation of motherhood. Her therapy focuses on providing mothers with prenatal and postnatal psychological support, birth education, healing from birth trauma and developing confidence with parenting. She is also an accredited Medicare provider of non-directive pregnancy support counselling.
